Cayce & Karl

Ok. I have known Cayce and her family since we were kids. We are talking small town charm history. So yeah, obviously I was super excited when Cayce asked me to do their flowers! It was an instant “of course, lets do this”.

We met up at the venue months before to take a look since I had never worked at this venue before, which was a super cozy place called Evin’s Mill. Perfect for a fall wedding. And it was easy to see why Cayce and Karl, being outdoor enthusiasts decided to have their wedding there. There are trails and creeks and massive fireplaces and a game hall. Its woodsy-lodge-camp dreams come true and was giving me some Twin Peaks vibes but make it Tennessee.

One thing we wanted to bring into the design was fall foliage. We had hoped that the weather would play along to give us golden leaves to design with, as well as provide a gorgeous natural backdrop at the venue. Its always a guessing game in the fall when the leaves will change. But they totally showed up for this one. We were able to forage beautiful maple, native sweetshrub, beech and vines to add fall touches to all the arrangements. Evin’s Mill had these amazing wandering boardwalks that connected the property. Cayce wanted small floral touches throughout so we created wreath-like florals to sit atop the banister. But my favorite piece was the backdrop to the ceremony. The mill already had vines wrapped down the porch roof and we worked our magic to create something that was cohesive to her design. This was one of those weddings where you feel like you understand the bride’s style instantly and are put at ease with how relaxed they are.

The icing on the cake was that they were also having Jaime of Our Ampersand Photo document their day. Which, if you have been following us, you know we are major fans of Jaime’s work. And if you want to highlight the colors of your day, she is the right choice. Her photos come out so vibrant, again so perfect for a fall wedding. She even took the couple on a trail to get the good waterfall shot. I mean you have to love it when a bride puts on the hiking boots and does the ole wedding-dress-in-a-bag trick.

Take a look at these gorgeous images and how stunning Cayce was! Cayce, thank you so much for trusting us with your heartfelt and beautiful day!
