Jennifer & Walter
Ok I am not going to lie. Yes we are throwing it back to older weddings lately but this one from the Fall of 2018 is of two of our good friends and will go down in the books as epic. I know I am biased but you will soon agree.
Quick history. Jen and I have known each other since elementary school. Her mom was my 2nd grade teacher and I always like to bring up that she actually tutored me a little. Friends, can you imagine 3rd grade Jen coming after school and tutoring 2nd grade me? Fast forward to high school and we became closer friends as the years went on. Jen was a bridesmaid in my wedding (almost 12 YEARS AGO) and came back from New York where she was living at the time to help. I think she pulled an all nighter THE NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING helping us with programs (does anyone do programs anymore?) and putting together a playlist so we would have something to dance to the next day. I also think she kept a few things together day-of, not that I remember any of it. To say I was grateful is an understatement. So obviously, how could I miss the opportunity to pay her back 8 years later?
AND - maybe the most exciting part in posting this now is that Jen and Walter just had a BABY! So my procrastination paid off like I meant to do this.
We tried to deliver the most colorful explosion of a backdrop imaginable. My mom even helped cut up some of the crepe paper streamers (full circle?). They wanted to carry the fun into the reception with little gifts for guests. One of them had to be unwrapped which left enormous piles of crepe paper streamers on the tables. Yes, please.
Adorable right?
Jen is a co-founder for The Chattery here in Chattanooga so it only made sense that her wedding had FUN written all over it.
Luckily, we were in the middle of a really great dahlia season and many of the flowers you see are from the field. Dahlias, cosmos, marigold, zinnias, and more. And the colors worked so well together.
Bright and colorful can sometimes translate to chaos. Thats why we like to focus on a few of those colors and bring in gradations of those colors - from subtle to bright. This creates a bridge to each color and allows the eyes to move through the arrangement naturally. As opposed to seeing stark differences in colors mixed together. I love working with a bright and colorful palette as it challenges me when choosing the flowers we plan to use and while designing.
Jen and Walter - thank you for trusting me with bringing your fun wedding decor to life. I am so glad I could be a part of it after all those years and so very happy for you to be experiencing this new chapter of life with Baby Miles.
