Maggie & Russell

Where do we begin?? Lets go ahead and say it - these people knew how to party. And it involves an entire weekend.

Actually, I have learned something really sweet about the wedding celebrations of Sewanee (The University of the South) Alumni through the brides that I have designed for there. It seems to be a consistent theme that when Sewanee alumni get married, its like a mini reunion - they usually all try to stay in town and celebrate the entire weekend. I absolutely love this! And this one was no exception.

I have really fallen in love with this little community. Its full of beautiful architecture, gorgeous old homes, natural attractions, and what I love most is how quaint it all is. Coffee shops, little markets, cafes and staple restaurants dot the town and we take advantage of that each time we visit for a wedding. For Maggie’s rehearsal, they were able to rent out a beautiful old house on the bluff called the Wren’s Nest. Just look at that massive porch! How perfectly casual is that place? After the rehearsal, they went to a little cottage in the middle of the Sewanee campus for drinks and dancing to live music in the garden. Yes, please. But don’t stop there. Keep scrolling down to see the Ceremony that took place on the bluff at Myer’s Point. Everyone cozied up on the little hill there to watch them exchange their vows. SO stunning. Then the real party started at the beautiful Sewanee Inn.

On to the wedding day! First of all, how beautiful and classic and stunning and timeless is Maggie?! She was such an elegant bride and just seemed so at ease at the same time.

The inspiration for her wedding day florals were Dutch Masters still life paintings. In her color palette we included peach, blush, and neutrals, but also light and dark blues and shades of lavender. We filled the arrangements with garden roses, layered ranunculus, sweet peas, yarrow, tulips and peonies. How many times can I say beautiful? We were so happy to have been a part of this gorgeous weekend for Maggie and Russell.
